Ribatejo: Tradition, Flavours, and Living Heritage

We begin our journey toward Santarém, a city with remarkable historical and architectural heritage, known as the Gothic capital of Portugal. We’ll visit the Jardim das Portas do Sol, one of the most beautiful viewpoints over the Tagus River, and the unique Torre das Cabaças, famous for its bell clock, a symbol of time and collective memory.
From Santarém, we head to Almeirim, a typical village of the Ribatejo lowlands. Here, we suggest a stop for lunch at a traditional restaurant, where you can taste the legendary Sopa da Pedra, a dish rich in flavour, tradition, and popular folklore. A culinary experience not to be missed. In the afternoon, we continue to Salvaterra de Magos to visit the Royal Falconry, an internationally renowned site classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Here, you’ll learn about the ancient bond between humans and birds of prey, through a visit that blends history, nature, and art.
This tour is fully customizable. We can include other points of interest such as the village of Golegã, known for its equestrian tradition, or visits to local farms and wineries for a Ribatejo wine tasting.
