Douro Wine Tour: Taste, History and Scenery in the Heart of the Douro Valley

We depart from Porto and head to our first stop: the charming town of Amarante. Here, you can visit the impressive São Gonçalo Church and Convent and admire the iconic bridge crossing the Tâmega River. If art is more your style, visit the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum, named after one of Portugal’s most influential modernist painters. We continue through the Douro region to Régua, making a scenic stop at the Mesão Frio viewpoint for a panoramic view over the Douro River and valley. In Régua, we’ll visit the Casa do Douro and see its stained-glass windows, which beautifully tell the story of the traditional Rabelo boats that once carried Port wine barrels down the river.
The journey continues to Pinhão, one of the most scenic villages in the Douro Valley. There, we visit the famous Pinhão train station, decorated with stunning tile panels depicting the harvest and wine-making scenes of the region. We finish the day with a delightful Port wine tasting at a local estate. Learn about the winemaking process, the unique grape varieties, and the rich cultural heritage of this world-renowned wine. A perfect ending to your day in the Douro.
