Aveiro & Costa Nova: Canals, Tradition, and Atlantic Charm

We head to Aveiro, a charming city crisscrossed by serene canals that have earned it the nickname “Venice of Portugal.” Upon arrival, we’ll take a panoramic tour to admire its architectural heritage, picturesque bridges, and welcoming atmosphere where tradition meets modernity. Next, enjoy a relaxing ride on a moliceiro, a traditional boat once used to harvest seaweed. As you glide along the canals, take in the Art Nouveau façades, colorful houses, and vibrant daily life of this unique city. After the cruise, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace: visit the lively fish market, admire the famous tiled train station, or taste the delicious ovos moles, a local egg-yolk and sugar delicacy. Before leaving Aveiro, we’ll pass by the salt pans to observe the traditional salt extraction process, a centuries-old practice still alive today. We then continue to Costa Nova, a picturesque coastal village famous for its colorful striped wooden houses, once used as fishing warehouses. Here, enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean, walk along the Aveiro Lagoon, or simply soak in the relaxed seaside atmosphere.
